Tucson's Intergenerational Playgroup for the Young and Young at Heart

Virtual Playgroup Wednesdays at 10 AM

By Young at Heart Playgroup January 29, 2021

Young at Heart Playgroup has been bringing Tucson families and seniors together for three years now to play, sing and dance! Founded by local moms who wanted to create a space for multigenerational play, we began meeting bi-monthly at Life Care Center of Tucson in 2018.

Due to the pandemic, the Young at Heart weekly playgroups have gone virtual! In addition, we started an "Adopt a Resident" program where you can send artwork to a resident of Life Care Center of Tucson. The amount of artwork you send and how often you send it is optional.  Some families choose to make it a one-time activity while others have been sending monthly artwork for the last six months! Either way, we encourage the Tucson community to send artwork through our program or on your own to your local assisted living center, especially during these isolating times.

What makes our program special is that you get an opportunity to see the resident you adopt during our virtual playgroups and they have an opportunity to see who sends them artwork!  Our gatherings bloom smiles on all faces young and for those who are young at heart.

Our playgroup meets via ZOOM  Every Wednesday at 10 a.m. to sing, dance, read a book, and send messages of hope and love during the half-hour we are together. Our playgroups are open to children of any age.  The playdate/storytime caters more to pre-k - elementary age children, but we have children as old as 13 who join us.  We have families and a few school groups who have joined our virtual playdates, also.
