Tucson Festival of Books Annual Young Authors and Artists Contests

Entry Deadline Extended until December 31, 2020!

Children from pre-K through high school are invited to participate in the annual Tucson Festival of Books Young Artists and Authors Contests. The deadline for submission of entries has been extended to December 31, 2020. Winners will receive $100 worth of gift certificates and recognition at the 2021 Virtual Tucson Festival of Books!

Young Authors Contest

  • “Everyone has a story…tell us yours.”
  • Children pre-k through 12th grade can submit original stories or poems
  • Entries limited to 1000 words
  • Author entries may be submitted by mail or e-mail. 
  • Poetry will be judged separately.

Young Artists Contest

Sponsored by Friends of Western Art

  • Children pre-k through 12th grade can submit original artwork
  • Media: crayons, pencil, pastels, paint, colored pencils, charcoal or markers
  • Maximum size 11” x 14”
  • Artwork should be original and should depict Arizona’s history, diverse cultures, landscapes,
    architecture, flora and/or fauna
  • Artist entries can only be mailed, or can be hand-delivered with special permission.
