This article highlights my journey with Jenny Craig from March 1-7, 2020.

I started this Jenny Craig journey on February 14, 2020. Yep, Valentine’s Day. I’ll never forget what my consultant said when I told her that I would be starting my weight loss plan on a day that is typically full of decadent temptations.

“Way to love yourself, Kindle.”

Love yourself. That’s hard to do sometimes, isn’t it? I think it’s especially hard for busy moms who are so preoccupied with caring for and loving everyone else. Love ourselves? If that even makes the to-do list, it's often dead last.

Love yourself. This phrase has gone through my head many times in the past few weeks, like when I visited a friend for the weekend and we painted signs and got pedicures instead of going out for dinner and drinks. That was a great way to love myself AND my friendship!

I also made the choice to love myself on my recent birthday. I went for a lovely hike in the morning, and spent the evening bonding with my family. We didn’t have a high-calorie restaurant dinner or big birthday cake. Instead, I blew out my candle on a Lemon Cake, one of my favorite Jenny Craig desserts.

Every day that I stick with the Jenny Craig Rapid Results Plan, I continue to make the choice to love myself: Taking a walk to perk myself up instead of grabbing a latte, going to bed a little earlier instead of snacking in front of the TV, and of course, enjoying every bite of my delicious Jenny Craig food at mealtimes.

And you know what? With all of this practice loving myself, now there’s less of me to love! At the time I am writing this article (March 6, 2020), it has been three weeks since I started Jenny Craig, and I’ve lost 7 pounds!* (* Avg. weight loss 1-2 lbs/week for members following the program.)

Maybe even better than the weight loss (yep, really) is the fact that every day it becomes a little easier to give myself permission to take care of myself and make choices that are just for me.

"Way to love yourself, Kindle."

*Avg. weight lost in a study was 11.6 lbs./4 wks. for those who completed the program. I received promotional consideration.
