Fox Theatre brings two colorful, family shows about Dia de los Muertos to Tucson this October.

First, on Sunday, October 27, come dressed in your best sugar skull attire for a screening of the award-winning film, Coco, from Walt Disney Studios.
The story follows the young Miguel, who dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol Ernesto de la Cruz, despite his family’s generations-old ban on music. Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead. After meeting a charming trickster named Héctor, the two new friends embark on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
This magical film is a winner of 2 Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song (“Remember Me”) and a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature.
There will be face painting, kid's activities, and photo ops! Kids 12 and under get in FREE!

On Tuesday, October 29, Fox Theatre presents Sugar Skull!, a beautiful story about a first-generation Mexican-American kid who (thanks to a charismatic Sugar Skull coming to life!) learns the true meaning of Dia de los Muertos, the importance of family traditions, and embraces the richness of her cultural identity.
Audiences across the country are craving this kind of culturally authentic storytelling. This colorful family show had an inaugural 9 city tour in fall of 2018, and resonated so much across the country that it has exploded into a 30 city, 13 state (and counting) cross-country tour for the fall of 2019.
Representation matters. Cultural intelligence matters.
Now more than ever it is important to share stories that celebrate our diversity and the beauty of other cultures rather than perpetuate negative stereotypes that divide us. Sugar Skull educates as much as it entertains, creating conversations about what we all have in common.
