My Kissing Puppy, Rollie: The Cuteness is REAL

Macaroni Kid Review

By Kindle Rising, East Tucson Macaroni Kid October 26, 2018

Call me a curmudgeon, but I don't particularly want a real puppy. Why? They shed, they chew, and they do other biologically necessary but inherently messy things that I would have to clean up after. Plus, our house and yard are small,  we already have 2 cats, 3 fish, and a tortoise, and we're hardly ever home. No puppy for us.

My daughter disagrees, to all of my reasons not to get a puppy, she has one counter reason TO get one, "Mama, they're so cuuuuute."

With her birthday coming up, I had been hearing about how "cuuuuute" puppies are a little more frequently than usual, so the opportunity to review Little Live Pets new toy, Rollie, My Kissing Puppy came at the perfect time. My daughter loves stuffed animals almost as much as she loves real animals, so I knew that Rollie would fit right into her stuffed menagerie. But would he satisfy some of her desire for a real puppy?

I asked my daughter to help me review a new toy, but I didn't tell her what it was. You can see her reaction and check out some of Rollie's features in the unboxing video, below.

She was thrilled! This is one "cuuuuute" toy! Rollie wags his tail, sniffs, and makes adorable puppy noises both when he's "awake" and when you lay him on his side to sleep. Best of all, he gives puppy kisses! Even I was taken with his adorable, non-slobbery, non-doggy breath, licks (you can see just how smitten I am in this little video).

In addition to the puppy, an instruction book and birth certificate come in the box. After playing with the puppy for a while, my daughter decided that he should be re-christened "Snuggles", and promptly filled out Snuggles' birth certificate and collar tag with his new name.

Snuggles is a perfect name for this darling little puppy, and one that was well-earned. While she loved the animation and sounds the puppy makes, my daughter also noticed that he is really snuggly! Many of the animated toys in her stuffed animal collection are fun to play with, but not particularly nice to cuddle with. Rollie (aka Snuggles) is both. In fact, he's cuddly enough to sleep with!

My daughter has had her new puppy for a week now, and hasn't asked for a real puppy once. While I'm sure I'll get the request again in the future, right now her new kissing puppy toy is a wonderful non-messy, low-maintenance, snuggly pet that we both love. Just this afternoon, my daughter came home from school feeling down because of a misunderstanding with a friend. She cuddled with her Little Live Pet as she tearfully told me her troubles, and then turned him on for a "kiss". As soon as his little tongue was licking her nose, she couldn't help but giggle. Snuggles is earning his keep! He may be a toy puppy, but the cuteness is real... and so are my daughter's smiles!
