Never Get Bored with Jenny Craig

Week 11 of My Jenny Craig Weight Loss Journey

By Kindle Rising, East Tucson Macaroni Kid Publisher November 28, 2017

Thank you, Jenny Craig, for sponsoring this post. Tried other Diets? Now it's time for Jenny Craig!

First things first. Shall we have a little holiday debrief? How did you all do? It was a challenge, right? I mean, those pies! All in all, though, I felt pretty good about it. I didn't even look at the real mashed potatoes because I had my fake (but yummy) cauliflower version that even my brother enjoyed. And I managed to keep the pie to a sliver, but I did put a splash of cream into my after dinner coffee.

The result? As of this morning I'm 0.6 pounds down from last week. Not quite the large jump I've seen the past couple of weeks, but hey, the number is still going DOWN. During the holidays, that counts as double success in my eyes!

And so, with one holiday under my belt (but I didn't have to loosen that belt!), I'm headed into the home stretch of my sponsored 12-week Jenny Craig experience.  I know for a fact that some of you have decided to take the Jenny Craig plunge, too, and I am so excited for you to experience #JennyCraigSuccess. For those of you on the fence, be sure to click HERE for the current offers.

One question I've gotten from a lot of people curious about Jenny Craig is whether or not I get bored. The answer? No! I have already mentioned there are over 100 different items on the Jenny Craig menu, but I haven't mentioned that nearly all of the meals come with suggestions for creative modifications or sides. For example: Adding shredded cabbage, cilantro, lime and Jenny Craig Salsa Ranch Dressing to the Chicken Street Tacos for a Baja style flair, or adding curry powder to the Chicken Fettuccine for a Thai Style Entree.

My favorite creative additions, though, are the ones you can do with "Fresh and Free" selections, mostly no-starch veggies, although mustard and hot sauce are among my favorite freebies, also. A few of the VERY easy creative additions are:

  • Sliced radishes, green onions and a splash of hot sauce on the White Bean Chicken Chili (also yummy in the chicken tortilla soup).
  • Sauteed spinach, mushrooms, and onions on the Garden Veggie Frittata
  • Grilled peppers and onions with the Chicken Street Tacos or the Chicken Quesadilla
  • Roasted Brussel Sprouts with...EVERYTHING.
  • And my favorite creative meal? Buffalo Cauliflower Mac and Cheese. The Jenny Craig Mac and Cheese is decadent and delicious on its own, but I like to spice it up a bit. I toss cauliflower florets in a spicy mixture of chili powder, garlic, and Tobasco sauce with a dash of salt. I roast the florets in the oven until slightly crispy, and then toss them onto my Mac and Cheese. AHHHMAZING.

So, going into the final weeks of Jenny Craig, I'm not at all worried about being bored with what I'm eating. In fact, I'm starting to think about all the Jenny Craig foods I'll miss!
