Family Friendly Tucson Halloween Events 2014

Freaky festivals, ghoulish games, creepy carnivals and more!

Events taking place on several dates in October: 
  • Colassal Cave Halloween Howl. (24-26; 5-9 PM) Candlelight ghost tours of the cave, hayrides, pony rides, jumping castles! $7/person plus $1 per car (or bring a can of food to donate). Under 3 free. Reservations requested. Call (520)647-3450.  
  • Creature Features at the Boo!Seum. (Oct. 25 & 26; 10 AM-4 PM; Desert Museum). Learn about not-so-spooky Halloween creatures, see decorated insect exhibits, and go on a treasure hunt. Regular museum admission applies. FREE for kids under 12 in a Desert themed costume.
  • Howl-o-Ween at the Zoo. (Oct. 24-26, 6-8 PM0. Trick-or-treating, costumed characters and more! $7 admission for all ages ($5 for zoo members). Click HERE to purchase tickets. 
  • Harry Potter and the Haunted Ruins at Valley of the Moon.(Oct. 24-26; Oct. 28-30, 6:00-8:20 PM). The Hogwarts Express leaves the station every 20 minutes. Gates open at 5:30. Come early and purchase tickets at the gate. Admission $10 for ages 16+, 15 and under FREE! 
  • Spooks and Thrills at Pantano Riding Stables. (Oct.25 & 26, dark until-8:45 PM). Haunted Hay Rides, Haunted Maze and more! Prices start at $6 for haunted hay ride. Reservations suggested.  
  • Spooktacular Science at Flandrau Science Center. (Oct. 24-26; Oct. 30 & 31). Frightfully fun activities like slippery slime, squid dissections, a brain zoo, and more! Plus, Halloween treats & trinkets and special Halloween laser shows in the Planetarium (included with admission). Wear a costume for half off admission! Adults $7, kids $5.
Friday, October 24
  • Frankenweenie Doggie Costume Contest and Movie (5:30 PM; Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway). Dress up your pooch for a costume contest and watch a dog-friendly outdoor screening of Tim Burton's Frankenweenie (rated PG). General admission $6.  
  • Ott YMCA Trunk or Treat. (6 PM.  Ott YMCA, 401 S. Prudence) Face painting, cake walks, jumping castle, costume contests and more! Open to the public. FREE.
  • Pima Air and Space Museum Night of Fright. (5-9 PM) Old fashioned carnival with games, pony rides, magic shows, trick-or-treating and more at this fun event. Admission $10 for adults, FREE for kids 12 and under.  
Saturday, October 25
  • Halloween Boo Bash. (4:00 PM-8:00 PM; Clements Center, 8155 E. Poinciana Dr.) Haunted house, face painting, costume contest and more at Clements Center. $3/person.  
  • Halloween in the Wild. (5-7 PM) Games, crafts, haunted house and more at the International Wildlife Museum. Regular admission rates apply.  
  • Spooky Halloween on 4th Avenue. (5-8 PM) Trick-or-treat along the avenue, music, prizes and mo Kids' costume contest at 6 PM. FREE.  
  • Trick or Treat at La Encantada. (5-7 PM). Show up in your best costume at Mildred and Dildred toy store at La Encantada, then go trick-or-treating at participating businesses throughout the shopping center. FREE. 
Sunday, October 26
  • Halloween Party at Live Theatre Workshop.(5:30-7:30 PM.  5317 E. Speedway.) Costume contest, pizza & a drink, and a special presentation of Sleepy Hollow and the Hilarious Ride of the Headless Stick-Horseman. Followed by a Monster Mash dance party! $10/person. Space is limited! Call to reserve seats: 327-4242.
  • Halloween Daze. (4-7 PM.  St. Paul's United Methodist Church. 8051 E. Broadway.) Games, crafts, haunted maze, and trunk-or-treating. $1 nachos and hot dogs. All are welcome. FREE.  
Friday, October 31
  • Beetlejuice Halloween Spooktacular. (6 PM; Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway). Trunk or Treat before the classic movie Beetlejuice starts at 7 PM. Costume contest and prizes! $9.25/adults; $6.25 children.  
  • Celtic Halloween Party (5 PM.  Rillito Raceway Park.) Trick or treating, scavenger hunt, fortune tellers and lots of fun at this special Halloween event at the annual Celtic festival. FREE admission between 5 & 6 PM. $8 at the door after that.  
  • Halloween Parade & Costume Contest at Alvernon Park (5 PM). There will be 2-legged and 4-legged costume contests and a fun parade through the Peter Howell neighborhood. Children can trick-or-treat along the way. FREE. 
  • Halloween Spooktacular at Children's Museum Tucson (10 AM-2 PM). Come in costume for games, crafts and trick-or-treating stations!  Regular admission applies.
  • Trunk or Treat at Rincon Mt. Presbytarian Church. (6-8 PM; 8445 E. Tanque Verde). Safe trick-or-treating! Please no scary/gory costumes.  FREE.
  • Trunk or Treat at Saguaro Christian Church.  (6-8 PM; 8302 E. Broadway). Along with trunks and candy, there will be a bounce house, carnival games, hot dogs and popcorn. We will also have special treats for smaller toddlers who can't eat candy yet. All are welcome! FREE.
