Do Something Great Day: Walkathon for the Avielle Foundation

Help raise money and awareness for brain health and violence prevention

September 18, 2014
Do Something Great Day doesn't stop on September 20th!  We have partnered with a local mom, Katrina Richman, to Do Something Great on September 28:  A Walkathon to help raise money and community awareness for the Avielle Foundation.

This cause is a very personal one for Katrina (Kaytee).  She and her young son were in Newtown, CT on December 14, 2012, visiting her brother's family, incl

grader Avielle Richman. Kaytee's niece, Avielle, was one of the young victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary that day.  Her family has since created the Avielle Foundation to help prevent future violence by funding brain health research and providing community education and outreach.

Kaytee is committed to honoring her niece's life and promoting awareness of the Avielle Foundation in Tucson.  Avielle's young cousin and her aunt remember a fun-loving, active little girl, so the idea of a fun, family-friendly walkathon seemed a great way to share her Avielle's spirit, while raising money to forward the foundation's mission.

Please join Kaytee and Macaroni Kid on September 28th for the Avielle Foundation Walkathon! Gather up a team of walkers and head to McCormick Park for some exercise, friendship, performances, demonstrations, food trucks, raffles and fun!
