What You'll Find in This Week's Edition of East Tucson Macaroni Kid

September 18, 2014
Welcome to East Tucson Macaroni Kid!  If you live in East or Central Tucson and are looking for ideas to educate, entertain and exhaust your kids, you have come to the right place. I'm a Tucson mom myself, and since I already spend so much time looking for enriching things for my family to do, I am thrilled to share what I discover with YOU!

What can you find in this week's newsletter (September 19-26)?

  • It's HERE!  Macaroni Kid's Do Something Great Day!  On September 20th, Macaroni Kid communities all over the country are sponsoring charitable events and fundraisers!  Tucson has TWO events on September 20 and one on September 28.   Learn about what we are doing in Tucson, and how YOU can help!
  • September is pediatric cancer awareness month.  One of our events is a Cookies for Kids' Cancer Bake Sale, supporting research into more effective, and less toxic, therapies for this terrible disease.
  • On a hyper-local level, the Peter Howell neighborhood association is trying to raise funds for improving the neighborhood and park.  What can you do to help?  Just SHOP!  Learn more HERE.
  • Did you know Tucson has a very personal connection to the Sandy Hook Elementary school tragedy? Kaytee Richman, a local mom, is also the aunt of one of the young victims, Avielle Richman.  Kaytee is organizing a fun walkathon event to remember her niece and support the Avielle Foundation. Join us on September 28 to Do Something Great for this cause!
  • Even if you can't participate in any of our official Do Something Great events, try to take a moment to Do Something Great this week.  Whether it's donating to a favorite cause or helping someone in need, share YOUR experience doing something great this week by using the hashtag #MKDoSomethingGreat on your social media posts!  Let's support each other as we make a difference!
  • There is much more in this week's publication!  Scroll past the event listings for the full Macaroni experience.  And don't forget to check out our birthday guide and calendar of events!
Enjoy your week and please take a moment to DO SOMETHING GREAT (#MKDoSomethingGreat)!  If you have any questions or comments about Do Something Great Day or East Tucson Macaoroni Kid, please do not hesitate to email me, Kindle Rising, at kindler@macaronikid.com.
