Make Way for Books is a Southern Arizona organization that strives to cultivate a love of books and reading in young children and help families make literacy an enjoyable, enriching part of their lives.  In support of their mission, Make Way for Books recently released a new, FREE App that is a wonderful resource for Southern Arizona families  The Make Way for Books App, available for iPhone or Android, provides strategies for families to introduce literacy activities anytime, anywhere!

Stuck in a grocery store line with a bored toddler? Trying to think of ways to keep your pre-schooler busy in the car?  Waiting at the doctor's office with your infant? The Make Way for Books App has suggestions for fun, literacy-based activities for all of those instances, and more!  Not only that, there are suggestions for great books for young children by age AND topic, with direct links to search for the books at Pima County Library or on Amazon.com.  There are also links to great music playlists for children on Spotify and Rdio, so you can play fun songs for your little one in a pinch!

Other features of the Make Way for Books App include direct links to the Pima County Public Library web page, a schedule of Make Way for Books family literacy events (under the "Follow the C2C Bus" tab), and links to other early literacy and general early childhood resources. What's more, the app can be viewd in either English OR Spanish!

This app will be a part of the Make Way for Books ongoing Talk, Sing, Read, Play, Everywhere, Every Day project with Pima County Public Library. MWFB is excited to partner with PCPL on this project.
