Beyond Tucson: January 14, 2017

Find healthy, outdoor activities the whole family will enjoy.

By East Tucson Macaroni Kid January 12, 2017
BEYOND Tucson began as a single day of events designed to commemorate the tragic events of January 8, 2011 and to help the community to move forward in a positive, healthy way. In the 5 years since the first BEYOND Tucson event, BEYOND has become an organization devoted to public health. BEYOND provides year-round opportunities for the public to participate in healthy activities, culminating in a community-wide event early in January each year. The activities held throughout the community are appropriate for all ages, abilities, and fitness levels, and are intended to help Tucson look ahead and start the new year off healthily and consciously.

This year, the BEYOND Tucson main event will be held on Saturday, January 14th. All events are family friendly and open to everyone; however some will be more difficult than others and may not be appropriate for small children. We've compiled those that seem especially geared toward families with younger children, but please feel free to look at the full schedule of events HERE. Most of the events listed are FREE; if there is a charge it will be noted.
Witness the Fitness: 9 AM - 12 PM
Spend a fun, free morning in the El Pueblo community (El Pueblo Park) with outdoor Zumba and a Family Fun Walk that is an interactive Scavenger Hunt filled with health and wellness tips along the way!

Enjoy a safe, fun ride through downtown Tucson from Noon to 1:30 PM.  You'll be accompanied by trained guides that will show you how easy it is to get around by bike.  A limited number of free helmets will be available to those who need them. There will also be a Bike Valet so you can park your bike and join the festivities at Armory Park and the Children's Museum.
The Children's Museum Tucson (CMT) and Armory Park Senior Center have teamed up with a wide range of community health and fitness groups. Whatever type of body movement inspires you, you are sure to find it here! There are fun activities planned for every age group, body type and fitness level!
