Yes, it's nice to have a day on the calendar we can claim for ourselves, and it's lovely that the advertising industry thinks we want (and deserve) flowers, jewelry and new cars (huh?), but what do Moms REALLY want for Mother's Day? I don’t know about all of you, but I find painting to be very relaxing.  Not painting a picture, mind you, I’m not an artist, but painting a plate or mug or figurine…that’s just fun.  Kind of makes me feel like a kid myself.  Unfortunately, the last time I did any kind of painting of this sort I was trying to keep my toddler from chewing on the paintbrushes, spilling the water bowls,  and sending shelves full of ceramics crashing to the floor.  Not so relaxing ...

Saturday, May 12 - Camp Saturdays With Early Learning Youth Sports!

Our Camp Saturday Program is designed to help young children learn the fundamentals of Soccer, Basketball and Volleyball.  With a focus on fun, children will learn and practice those fundamentals, and even play scrimmage games to show off their newly learned skills.  Camps include 5 sessions, and you can sign your children up for 1, 2 or all three sports.

Frank Buckner gives out long-stemmed roses on Mother's Day. He owns Buck's Fuel and Service gas station on the NW corner of 1st and River. It's not a gimmick, he's not trying to sell anything. It is just something special HE does to celebrate our community moms. He's been doing it for something like 20 years. Come early. He gets a lot of roses to give out. To moms, future moms, ... every woman who comes. And you don't even have to get out of your car. Drive up and they'll deliver one to your car window. Nice.

I LOVE handprints… maybe that is why I have so many on my walls that haven’t been washed off yet!! Macaroni Yum: Bananas Foster French Toast


Show this one to Dad and put him in charge of Mom's Day breakfast because...you deserve it!

The perfect sweet treat to make for a special mom on Mother's Day!

Ingredients:
4 eggs
1/4 cup milk
2 teaspoon vanilla extract - divided
8 slices whole grain bread bread
2 bananas, sliced
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup butter
1 tablespoon dark rum or rum extract - optional
powdered sugar
Oil

Directions:
Crack eggs into medium size shallow bowl, beat lightly with a fork. Add milk and 1 tsp vanilla, stir well.
